While I sit and relax in 28 degree heat and contemplate a dip in the pool, my family and friends in Melbourne are about to die!!!!!!
They have had 3 days in a row over 43 degrees. Today it is meant to be 37!!!!!!
To add to the heat, the power keeps going off and staying off for long periods of time. A friend of mine had no power from Wed night at 9.30pm until 12.00pm Thursday.
Crown Casino in the city lost all power last night and closed down. Friends were meant to see the Countdown Spectacular. Needless to say they didn't get to see it but they couldn't get their car out of the carpark either!!!!!
I am thankful for the pool and refrigerated air con about now!!!! We are expecting some mid 30's here over the next couple of days, but with thunderstorms attached - rain + heat = humidity - I hate humidity!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Dad

I emailed the link for my Blog to my Dad today. He has visited because he left comments.....one of referred to commenting second behind my friends in the northern hemisphere.
To my defence, I didn't email my dad the link last week 'cause he was busy (see pic above).
My crazy Dad was playing in the hills of Victoria on his push bike. Yep, my old man is a cyclist! He rides his push bike for fun in all kinds of weather............anywhere from 50 - 1200 km at a time, all over the world!!!!!!!! He'll be in the USA this year for a ride and Paris in 2011.
I had to post this pic - I couldn't help myself!!!!!

Only 5 more sleeps.....
That's it....5 more sleeps until my first baby boy goes to school for the very first time!!!! Before you even ask, yes, I am one of these mum's who spend the first day of school bawling!!!!!!
Chubba on the other hand has no problem with leaving the nest (which makes life easier for me) He is very excited to be starting school and keeps asking if he is going to school with Chicky when the holidays are over. We have named EVERYTHING. All we have left to get is his school uniform (shorts and a polo shirt).
Having the Big Fella home next week isn't going to help either. He'll just laugh at me when I start crying......he doesn't get the whole 'my baby is growing up, that's so sad' thing that Mum's get.
I am thankful that I have 3 kids that don't suffer any form of seperation anxiety. They couldn't care less. 9 times out of 10 we are lucky to get a goodbye!!!!!! But just once I'd like to have a kid that doesn't want me to leave.............

Happy Birthday Australia!!!!
January 26 - Australia Day
Normally we are away waterskiing.......this year was completely different.
On Sunday we had a spit roast with some new friends. The kids swam in the pool and the parents sat around talking and drinking....we had a lovely day.
Last night to celebrate Australia Day we ventured into the city by train!!! It is the first time we have done it since we moved here. We didn't even know what ticket to buy!!!!
But we made it into the city and watched the fireworks display on the bakns of the Swan River. When it was all over we flowed with the sea of people back to the train station and back home.
The kids loved the fireworks. They were fine with the noise and the people and the didn't complain about the walking!!!!!
Last week of school holidays now....I need to get myself a countdown ticker....only 6 more sleeps to go!!!!!

They make me laugh!
I have few friends.....thats just me....I have some very special friends but I have never been Miss Popular. I'm not saying that for sympathy - really that is what I have chosen. I am a bit of a loner and much prefer the company of 1 or 2 friends over dinner than party with 20 all the time!
But thanks to the wonders of the internet, I have discovered a wonderful group of women in the northern hemisphere who I consider to be my friends! I have never met them in person (for obvious reasons) but we have shared so many things together.
I have known these women since before I fell pregnant with Chicky...so over 7 years....and they make me laugh!!!!!!
Their posts on our "home on the net" this morning made me giggle.........so to keep Kate happy I will try and update everyday :) Thanks for the warning Amanda hehehehehe :P And Mags and Jen, I will be picking your brains for technical info!

Flat days and stuff.
I hate flat days. I hate waking up in the morning and then crying for the rest of the day....and all for no apparent reason.
I know I was flat partly because my sister and her family went home. We spent 11 awesome, funfilled days with them. There were no fights between the kids (aged 13, 7, 5, 4 & nearly 3) and we got to do the touristy thing with them as well. But all good things must come to an end and sadly we had to say goodbye! Goodbyes suck!!!!!
I am still trying to find my groove out West. The kids go back to school in 2 weeks, which means Uni isn't too far behind. Maybe getting back into the school routine will make a difference?
Chicky starts Year 2, Chubba is starting school for the first time and Boopa is going to Kinder 2 days a week. They are all very excited about it - which is a great thing. We have purchased most of their stationery and have began the mammoth task of sticking labels onto everything!!!! The joys of being a Mum!!

Very first post....
So finally I have ventured into the world of blogging. Does that mean I am now keeping up with the Jones'? Have I succumbed to the pressure of the online world?
Truth be told.....none of the above......I figured if my old man can do it - so can I!!!!! How silly is that!!!!!! In all reality, I'm sure he will have a giggle to himself about it too. He'll be the one I call on for help......actually strike that - I'll enlist the help of my northern hemisphere friends who blog all the time hehehehehehehe :)
While I'm on the topic of my friends in the Northern Hemisphere, I have been watching the inauguration of President Obama. While I think this is an important step for the USA, is such a big deal always made when a new President takes office? I can only imagine the amount of money that has been spent on the day. Or could it be said that the events of today are more evident to me because President Obama is African American?
My dad always told me never to discuss Sex, Religion or Politics........so sorry Dad.....but I had to ask the question!
And so ends my first post........
